A Vision of Hope: New Heaven and New Earth
Welcome to today's message with Pastor Mike Folsom. In this sermon, we're turning to Revelation chapter 21, one of the most beautiful and hopeful chapters in the Bible. This is where John's vision reveals a new heaven and a new earth, where God will dwell with His people, wipe away every tear, and make all things new. Pastor Mike will guide us through the promise of eternal life and the incredible hope that this chapter offers. Let's dive into this vision of ultimate renewal and restoration.
Pastor Mike emphasizes that Revelation chapters 1 through 20 prepare us for the glorious visions in chapters 21 and 22. As God's wrath concludes, we witness the manifestation of His promises and the fruition of our hope. Today, we delve into the profound transformation described in Revelation 21:1-8, where John envisions a new heaven and a new earth, free from death, mourning, and pain.
Pastor Mike explains that this new creation isn't just a polished version of our current world but a completely new and different existence. As humans, we all fall short and need transformation to experience God fully. The old ways and the old world won't make it; everything will be made new, providing a fresh start free from the imperfections and struggles of our current lives.
Continuing with Revelation 21:9-22, Pastor Mike describes the new Jerusalem, a city adorned with precious stones and pure gold, signifying God's glory. The city's walls, though not for protection, symbolize the divine beauty and strength of God's creation. In this new world, material treasures lose their significance as we bask in the presence of God, where nothing impure will enter, and only those written in the Lamb's book of life will dwell.
In the latter part of the sermon, Pastor Mike reflects on how our earthly struggles and feelings of unworthiness are overshadowed by God's unwavering support. He reminds us that we aren't holding God up; He is holding us up, leading us towards a future where we will be in His presence forever. The message concludes with a powerful reminder to always return to Jesus whenever we feel lost, as He is the way to the ultimate promise of Revelation 21.
